The NSRF consists of a multi-disciplinary team with contributions from a broad range of disciplines, including epidemiology, psychology, psychiatry and biostatistics. The foundation has been recognised by the Department of Health and Children as an official research unit to contribute to the prevention of suicidal behaviour in Ireland. The NSRF has been recognised as the centre of excellence and the Irish focal point for information regarding suicide and its prevention by the WHO-World Health Organisation.

IASP is dedicated to preventing suicidal behaviour, to alleviate its effects, and to provide a forum for academians, mental health professionals, crisis workers, volunteers and suicide survivors.

National Office for Suicide Prevention – 01-6352139  www.nosp.ie

The main functions of National Office for Suicide Prevention are to oversee the implementation of ‘Reach Out’ the National Strategy for Action on Suicide Prevention, to co-ordinate suicide prevention efforts around the country and to speak regularly with agencies and individuals interested and active in suicide prevention. The NOSP works closely with the HSE Resource Officers for Suicide Prevention.
