2^nd Annual Award for Excellence in Research

The Irish Association of Suicidology (IAS) is pleased to announce the call for submissions for their 2^nd Annual Award for Excellence in Research to encourage new research projects and to support organisations engaged in research. 

 Since its foundation in 1996, the IAS has strived to create a platform for researchers both nationally and internationally in which to present their work.  The IAS has, to date, hosted 15 Annual Conferences and publishes a quarterly Newsletter promoting research on topics directly related to suicidology.   This annual award provides an excellent opportunity for new researchers starting out in their careers to present their work and to receive advice from expert researchers.

The Award is open to persons undertaking a degree course and currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate/post graduate student or persons who have, within the past two years, commenced work as a researcher.  The IAS Research Award Committee will review all submissions and announce one winner and four runners up.

The winner and runners up will be given the opportunity to attend a workshop on October 10^th 2012 with national and international experts in suicide research who will give the benefit of their wisdom and experience to the five researchers.  The winner will present his/her findings at the Annual Conference on October 11^th 2012.
