HSE Clarifies Funding For Mental Health/ Suicide Prevention

The Irish Association of Suicidology welcomes Minister Lynch’s clarification on the report in the Irish Times (6th September 2012) regarding the additional funding for mental health / suicide prevention.

According to a statement issued by the Minister the majority of the 414 additional posts for community mental health teams are at advance recruitment stages.  Even though the posts will not be taken up until December which means that most of the funding allocated for this year will not be spent as designated.  It does commit the HSE to funding these posts in future years.
